Aligning Company Values

Aligning Company Values

Insights | 05 July 2019

I recently invited the team at PM-Partners to review our company values.

I did this so we can collectively acknowledge that these values are at the core of our decision making – the way we interact with each other and the way we network. When values are shared, it builds internal cohesion among all teams in the business. If all staff are working together and to their full capability, outstanding service can be delivered to our clients.

When I think about ‘Political Correctness’ across society today, I believe that people are generally concerned about their ability to express themselves. People can worry that a lack of familiarity with a topic, or an unthinking word choice, could lead to a poor consequence for them.

However, let’s not assume everyone is the same – that means responsibility and accountability is diminished. The drive to compete and succeed in a tough business can be lost if we concentrate on ‘Political Correctness’.

Values alignment is the most significant factor in predicting company success. If we concentrate on our values, we can become more resilient, more sustainable and more successful than other companies. At PM-Partners, we concentrate on creating an organisational culture that continually evolves and serves the needs of both our team and our clients.

When we use our values to make decisions, we make a deliberate choice to focus on what is important to us.

What benefit do you think company values bring to an organisation? Please share your thoughts with me in the comments.
