Extended Project Workforce

CHALLENGE:

Our client needed to quickly deliver projects from the initial concept phase through to successful implementation. PM-Partners were brought on board to assist with the rapid implementation.

RESULT:

Extended workforce model was implemented within days, resources were inducted and on-site immediately following approval. Our flexible arrangement met the client’s immediate needs for resources for a limited period of time at two separate locations.
Our client needed to quickly deliver projects from the initial concept phase through to successful implementation. PM-Partners were brought on board to assist with the rapid implementation.

Our responsibilities included:
  • Managing existing projects that were in flight and which required immediate attention and remediation
  • Reviewing the pipeline of projects that were through initial stages
  • Identifying the level of structure and governance that would need to be adhered to or applied
  • Applying a flexible extended workforce resource model to cater for peaks and troughs of work
Our approach included:
  • Meeting with the CIO to explain our approach and confirm the immediate challenges
  • Providing an initial team of resources (PMs and BAs) to address the immediate issues
  • Progressing with a flexible extended workforce model to upscale and downscale on resources. Additional BAs and PMs were identified as being required and were inducted onto the account
  • Establishing an account governance framework for reporting, approvals and planning
  • Assessing a high level pipeline and implementing resource planning
  • Distributing the management of the account between an on-site Service Delivery Manager in Australia and an Account Manager in Singapore
  • Sourcing resources from within our organisation and networks
Successes:
  • Extended workforce model was implemented within days, resources were inducted and on-site immediately following approval
  • Office transition/relocation project managed successfully (this was an inflight project that did not have a project manager when PM-Partners came on board). This was successfully  implemented within the timeframe required
  • A further 20 projects (business, IT, operations and mining related) were brought under control
  • Our flexible arrangement met the client’s immediate needs for resources for a limited period of time at two separate locations
